IVORY COAST – “Blood Donation in Bimbresso: Civic Service Trainee Volunteers Lead by Example”

As part of the partnership between the National Civic Service Office (OSCN) and the National Blood Transfusion Center (CNTS), a blood donation drive was held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Civic Service Center of Bimbresso. This initiative mobilized civic service trainee volunteers eager to take concrete action in solidarity and civic engagement.

Held under the theme “Donating blood is saving lives,” the event was part of a national awareness campaign highlighting the importance of blood donation, particularly crucial at a time when healthcare facilities are experiencing a sharp increase in demand.

From the early hours, young volunteers, guided by their trainers, gathered in large numbers. Before donations began, CNTS personnel conducted information sessions on the conditions, benefits, and precautions related to blood donation. Informed and motivated, the trainees responded enthusiastically to the call.

According to Dadié Justine, head of the Yopougon University Hospital (CHU) blood collection site, “this turnout reflects the strong civic spirit of these young people. Their contribution is invaluable, as the need for blood is constant.”

Sidibé Bakary, Director of the Civic Service for Development Action (SCAD), also praised the initiative, saying: “This gesture embodies the core values of civic service—solidarity, patriotism, and commitment.”

The partnership between OSCN and CNTS includes plans for similar campaigns at other civic service centers across the country. These efforts aim not only to strengthen young people’s sense of responsibility and citizenship, but also to make a meaningful contribution to the national healthcare system.
