From October 15 to 17, 2024, Cameroon hosted the 4 Our Doctors scientific days. A landmark event dedicated to disease prevention and health promotion. An initiative of a group if doctors.
The event brought together health experts, researchers and medical practitioners to discuss prevention and health promotion strategies in the country.
These scientific days aimed to:
– Educate the public and healthcare professionals on best prevention practices.
– Strengthen the capacities of local health systems.
– Promote collaboration between different healthcare players.
Discussions covered a range of topics, including:
– Early detection of cancers: the importance of awareness-raising and screening campaigns.
– Chronic disease prevention: Strategies to reduce the incidence of diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
– Maternal and child health: Initiatives to improve care during pregnancy and childhood.
– Mental health: Approaches to better manage stress and mental disorders.
Speakers included renowned experts such as Dr. Francine Kémayou, who shared her knowledge of biomedical engineering in Cameroon, and Dr. Dorothée Maa, who presented a study on physician stress in public hospitals.
The 4 Our Doctors scientific days were a resounding success, providing a platform for exchanging ideas and experiences, and strengthening prevention and health promotion efforts in Cameroon. The event highlighted the importance of prevention and health education, and encouraged greater collaboration between the various players in the health sector.
