The Global Fund Senior Fund Portfolio Manager responsible for Southern and Eastern Africa and Middle East Ms Marion Gleixner paid a courtesy call on Minister of Health Hon. Dr Stephen Modise earlier today.
Botswana has been benefiting from the Global Fund grants for many years now. The Ministry of Health in particular, has been supported in the area of HIV and TB response, through among others, capacity building and systems strengthening.
Minister Dr Modise requested that if there are areas where Ms Gleixner believes Botswana could strengthen for it to optimise its benefits from the Global Fund, she could advise. She mentioned that Botswana seemed to lag behind in implementation, to which the Minister assured her that the country will work on it.
Ms Gleixner has been in Botswana for discussions on the US support to Botswana.
