Pendant longtemps, les options th\u00e9rapeutiques sont rest\u00e9es limit\u00e9es. Mais aujourd\u2019hui, une lueur d\u2019espoir se dessine : la th\u00e9rapie g\u00e9nique.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Une promesse scientifique devenue r\u00e9alit\u00e9<\/p>\n<p>La th\u00e9rapie g\u00e9nique permet de corriger le d\u00e9faut g\u00e9n\u00e9tique \u00e0 l\u2019origine de la maladie, souvent en modifiant les cellules souches du patient pour qu\u2019elles produisent une forme d\u2019h\u00e9moglobine non pathog\u00e8ne. En 2023, des traitements comme Casgevy, utilisant la technologie CRISPR-Cas9, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 approuv\u00e9s aux \u00c9tats-Unis et au Royaume-Uni \u2014 une premi\u00e8re mondiale.<\/p>\n<p>Les r\u00e9sultats sont spectaculaires : plusieurs patients ont rapport\u00e9 la fin des crises douloureuses et un retour \u00e0 une vie quasi normale.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Et sur le continent africain ?<\/p>\n<p>Bien que l&rsquo;acc\u00e8s reste encore restreint, l\u2019Afrique commence \u00e0 se positionner dans cette dynamique :<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Le Mali, le Maroc et l\u2019Afrique du Sud participent \u00e0 des discussions ou initiatives en partenariat avec des institutions de recherche internationales.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Des plateformes de greffe et de suivi sont en cours de structuration dans plusieurs pays pilotes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; L\u2019OMS Afrique a int\u00e9gr\u00e9 la th\u00e9rapie g\u00e9nique dans ses orientations strat\u00e9giques en 2024, plaidant pour un transfert de technologie ma\u00eetris\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cependant, les obstacles sont nombreux :<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Le co\u00fbt exorbitant des traitements (jusqu\u2019\u00e0 2 millions de dollars)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; L\u2019exigence d\u2019infrastructures m\u00e9dicales avanc\u00e9es<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; La n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de former le personnel soignant localement<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Des mod\u00e8les hybrides sont envisag\u00e9s : pr\u00e9lever les cellules du patient en Afrique, les modifier en laboratoire \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tranger, puis les r\u00e9injecter sur le continent. Complexe mais porteur d\u2019espoir.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>La th\u00e9rapie g\u00e9nique n\u2019est plus un luxe inatteignable \u2014 c\u2019est une possibilit\u00e9 concr\u00e8te \u00e0 pr\u00e9parer et \u00e0 adapter aux r\u00e9alit\u00e9s africaines. Pour que demain, un enfant n\u00e9 \u00e0 Bobo-Dioulasso ou Dakar ait les m\u00eames chances de gu\u00e9rison qu\u2019un autre \u00e0 Londres ou New
