Le S\u00e9n\u00e9gal a r\u00e9alis\u00e9, ce dimanche 26 novembre 2023, ses premi\u00e8res transplantations r\u00e9nales. Trois op\u00e9rations ont \u00e9t\u00e9 men\u00e9es \u00e0 bien, deux le dimanche et une le lundi, par une \u00e9quipe m\u00e9dicale s\u00e9n\u00e9galaise assist\u00e9e par des partenaires turcs.

Les patients, deux femmes et un homme, \u00e9taient tous en insuffisance r\u00e9nale terminale et avaient besoin d’une greffe pour survivre. Les donneurs \u00e9taient des membres de la famille des receveurs.

Les op\u00e9rations ont dur\u00e9 en moyenne quatre heures et ont \u00e9t\u00e9 un succ\u00e8s. Les patients se portent bien et sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 sortis de l’h\u00f4pital.

Cette r\u00e9ussite est une \u00e9tape importante pour la sant\u00e9 publique s\u00e9n\u00e9galaise. Elle permet au pays de se doter d’une nouvelle option th\u00e9rapeutique pour les patients atteints d’insuffisance r\u00e9nale terminale.

La transplantation r\u00e9nale est une intervention chirurgicale qui consiste \u00e0 remplacer un rein d\u00e9faillant par un rein sain. Elle est la meilleure option th\u00e9rapeutique pour les patients atteints d’insuffisance r\u00e9nale terminale, qui ne peuvent plus survivre sans dialyse.

Au S\u00e9n\u00e9gal, le nombre de patients atteints d’insuffisance r\u00e9nale terminale est en augmentation. En 2022, on estimait que le pays comptait environ 20 000 patients en dialyse. La transplantation r\u00e9nale est donc une solution essentielle pour am\u00e9liorer la qualit\u00e9 de vie de ces patients.

La r\u00e9ussite des premi\u00e8res transplantations r\u00e9nales au S\u00e9n\u00e9gal est le fruit d’un travail de longue haleine. Elle est le r\u00e9sultat de la collaboration entre des m\u00e9decins s\u00e9n\u00e9galais et turcs, qui ont re\u00e7u une formation sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e en transplantation r\u00e9nale.

Cette r\u00e9ussite est \u00e9galement une source d’espoir pour les patients atteints d’insuffisance r\u00e9nale terminale dans d’autres pays africains. Elle montre que la transplantation r\u00e9nale est une option th\u00e9rapeutique accessible et efficace, m\u00eame dans des pays en d\u00e9veloppement.
