Nouvelle semaine et nouveaux d\u00e9fis sanitaire pour l’Afrique. Le week-end dernier nous avons c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9 la journ\u00e9e mondiale contre le cancer. Une journ\u00e9e qui rev\u00eat une importance toute particuli\u00e8re en Afrique o\u00f9 le diagnostic des cancers se fait principalement \u00e0 un stade avanc\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le cancer est l’une des principales cause de d\u00e9c\u00e8s dans le monde entier. Selon l’Organisation Mondiale de la Sant\u00e9 (OMS) , chaque ann\u00e9e, l\u2019Afrique enregistre environ 1,1 million de nouveaux cas de cancer, et jusqu\u2019\u00e0 700 000 d\u00e9c\u00e8s des suites de cette maladie. Le cancer du sein, tout comme les cancers du col de l\u2019ut\u00e9rus, de la prostate, du foie et colorectal, concentrent pr\u00e8s de la moiti\u00e9 des nouveaux cas de cancer recens\u00e9s sur le continent chaque ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chez les hommes: les cancers du poumon, de la prostate, colorectal, de l’estomac et du foie sont les types de cancer les plus courants,  tandis que les femmes sont le plus souvent atteintes des cancers du sein, colorectal, du poumon, du col de l’ut\u00e9rus et de la thyro\u00efde. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les enfants ne sont pas en restent et sont \u00e9galement touch\u00e9s par le cancer avec la majorit\u00e9 vivant dans les pays en voies de d\u00e9veloppement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comment expliquer cet \u00e9tat de fait ? En effet, seulement 3 % des \u00e9tablissements de traitement du cancer dans le monde sont en Afrique et la radioth\u00e9rapie n\u2019est disponible que dans 22 pays d\u2019Afrique subsaharienne.
Outre ces faits, le manque d’acc\u00e8s aux services et aux soins de sant\u00e9 et la charge financi\u00e8re de la prise en charge du cancer en Afrique du fait d’un manque de subvention favorisent l’augmentation des chiffres du cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Des efforts sont cependant \u00e0 lou\u00e9s dans le cadre du d\u00e9pistage de certains cancers ( cancer du sein, cancer du col de l’ut\u00e9rus,…) mais quand est-il du traitement,  du plateau technique, des ressources humaines ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le fardeau du cancer continue de s’alourdir en Afrique, exer\u00e7ant une pression physique, \u00e9motionnelle et financi\u00e8re sur les personnes, les familles, les communaut\u00e9s et les syst\u00e8mes de sant\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De nombreux patients atteints de cancer n’ont pas acc\u00e8s \u00e0 un diagnostic et \u00e0 un traitement de qualit\u00e9 en temps utile en Afrique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
