Merck Foundation<\/strong>\u00a0(https:\/\/Merck-Foundation.com<\/a>), the philanthropic arm of Merck KGaA Germany launched three Songs in three languages named\u00a0\u2018NO more Diabetes, Sugar Free\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0English<\/strong>,\u00a0\u2018Dites non au Diab\u00e8te\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0French\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0\u2018Chega de Diabete\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0Portuguese<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the songs,\u00a0Senator, Dr. Rasha Kelej<\/strong>\u00a0CEO of Merck Foundation\u00a0<\/strong>expressed, \u201cI am very happy to release our new three songs in English, French and Portuguese, as a part of our\u00a0Merck Foundation<\/strong>\u00a0Nationwide Diabetes Blue Point Program.\u00a0<\/strong>The songs communicate an important message that diabetes can be prevented and managed with lifestyle modifications like going sugar-free, eating healthy, exercising regularly, stopping smoking, and limiting alcohol intake.<\/p>\n

I am proud to collaborate with very talented and popular singers from three countries:\u00a0Cwezi<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0from\u00a0Ghana<\/strong>\u00a0for English Version,\u00a0Laura Beg<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0from\u00a0Mauritius<\/strong>\u00a0for the French Version, and\u00a0Blaze<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0from\u00a0Mozambique<\/strong>\u00a0for the Portuguese Version. All three singers have sung beautifully. I had a lot of fun working with them\u201d.<\/p>\n

Diabetes is an increasing problem in sub-Saharan Africa. Type 2 diabetes, the most common form, is becoming more prevalent owing to rising rates of obesity, physical inactivity and urbanization. As per the recent data, 24 million adults in the age group of 20-79 years live with diabetes in Sub-Saharan Africa, which has been estimated to rise to 33 million and 55 million by 2030 and 2045 respectively.<\/p>\n

Merck Foundation Nationwide Diabetes Blue Points Program in partnership with African First Ladies, Ministries of Health, Medical Societies and Academia<\/strong>\u00a0helps improve access to equitable and quality diabetes care nationwide in African Countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very proud to share that as a part of our Nationwide Diabetes Blue Points Program, Merck Foundation provides more than 660 scholarships in Diabetes, Cardiovascular Preventive and Endocrinology one-year diploma and two-year master degree for Doctors from 43 countries to better manage diabetes, hypertension, and endocrinology patients.<\/p>\n

This also includes scholarships for the Master course in the Clinical Management of Diabetes in 4 languages- English, French, Portuguese and Spanish, endorsed by Diabetes UK for doctors from African and Latin American countries. Therefore, I\u2019d like to invite young doctors to apply for our scholarships on\u00a0submit@merck-foundation.com<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to fill the public healthcare gap if needed in their communities\u201d, added\u00a0Dr. Kelej<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Merck Foundation has announced the\u00a0Call for Applications<\/strong>\u00a0for their\u00a0\u201cDiabetes & Hypertension\u201d Media, Film, Song and Fashion Awards 2022<\/strong>\u00a0in partnership with\u00a0African First Ladies<\/strong>. The Four awards have been announced for Media, Musicians, Fashion Designers, Filmmakers, students and new potential talents in these fields.\u00a0The theme of the awards is to promote a healthy lifestyle and raise awareness about the prevention and early detection of Diabetes and Hypertension.<\/strong>\u00a0I invite all our talented artists and media representatives to apply for these awards at\u00a0submit@merck-foundation.com<\/strong><\/a>\u201d, concluded\u00a0Dr. Rasha Kelej.<\/strong><\/p>\n
